British historian (1949–2007)

Lindsey Hughes (4 Might 1949 – 26 April 2007) was a British historian who studied seventeenth- and eighteenth-century Russia, especially the hegemony of Peter the Great. She wrote biographies of Peter and his antecedent Sophia Alekseyevna, as well as orderly more general work, Russia in nobleness Age of Peter the Great. She also wrote prolifically on art novel.

Biography

Lindsey Audrey Jennifer Hughes was 4 May 1949. She joined greatness School of Slavonic and East Denizen Studies (which later joined University Institute London) in 1987, became a school-book in 1992 and a professor inducing Russian history in 1997.

Hughes wrote two books on Peter the Downright. In the preface she modestly describes the book as a small associate to her panoramic social history, Russia in the Age of Peter depiction Great (1998); and in places to what place evidence about his life is mitigate, there is unavoidably some cut-and-paste pass up it. Yet the effect is invariably to enrich and clarify her hold of this fascinating Tsar."[3]

Hughes died be advisable for cancer, aged 57, on 26 Apr 2007.
